THE CARRIAGES

Traditional Barouche Carriage

The Barouche carriage was very fashionable in the 19th Century and was used principally for leisure driving in the summer. It would have been pulled by a pair of high-quality horses and was considered a carriage for the man of means.

Our Barouche is an original dating back to c1880. It is a 4 wheeled vehicle with two double seats inside, arranged vis-à-vis, so that the sitters on the front seat face those on the back seat. It has a soft collapsible half-hood folding like bellows over the back seat and a high outside box seat in front for the driver. The half hood can be raised in an instant (should the weather suddenly change!)

The carriage is painted in shiny gloss black with elegant gold trim, it has traditional shiny brass lanterns either side and light grey seats.

The Barouche is a very romantic carriage and being an original it oozes vintage charm. For the cooler months we can provide warm, cosy blankets for you to snuggle into.

Racing Green Country wagonette

Our lovely wagonette is a real country charmer. For a more rustic / natural wedding theme it is the perfect choice. The carriage seats 4 adults comfortably along two benches along the right and left side of the platform with people facing each other. The driver sits on a separate, frontfacing bench. This carriage does not have a hood so please bear that in mind when booking!

The wagonette is painted in a beautiful racing green colour with delightful red trim and has traditional lanterns either side. It can be decorated in silk flowers and foliage or classic country bunting all of which is included in the price. We are happy to accommodate other

decorative requests for example hops or other foliage just let us know your ideas when you enquire!
